Second Grade

In second grade we learn to apply our newly learned skills from first grade. We are learning how to be independent, accountable, and responsible workers. We are continually developing our character through group projects, pairing up with a partner, working in small groups, participating in large groups, and on the play ground. Using a Christ centered curriculum, we focus on our first Bible verse, Psalm 6:31 “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you,” throughout the year.

We have many enrichment programs to help enhance and balance our academics along with growing the whole brain. Weekly we have Spanish, PE, Library, Music, Art, and Computer Lab.

With the help of parent volunteers, we have Reading and Math groups bi-weekly and a Writing Workshop every week!

Students in second grade learn through many hands on activities. I love seeing the excitement on their faces when their seeds starts to emerge, the miracle of metamorphosis-witnessing a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, visiting a working fire station, experiments with science and visiting the Science Center in LA, just to name a few.

It is a pleasure to teach at this wonderful school! I’m looking forward to a fantastic year with this class!
