Experience a Day as a PVCS Lion: Shadow Day
At Pleasant Valley Christian School, we believe that the best way to understand the unique atmosphere and community spirit of our school is to experience it firsthand. That’s why we offer Shadow Days—a special opportunity for prospective students to spend a day at our school and see what it’s like to be a PVCS Lion.
What is a Shadow Day?
A Shadow Day at PVCS is a chance for prospective students to join us from the start of the school day and stay through lunch. It’s designed to give students a real taste of daily life at our school. During their visit, students will attend classes, participate in school activities, and enjoy lunch with their peers. This experience allows them to immerse themselves in our nurturing yet academically stimulating environment.
Why Participate in a Shadow Day?
Welcoming Community: Our students and staff are always excited to welcome new faces to our campus. Prospective students are greeted with open arms and a welcoming spirit, ensuring they feel part of the PVCS family from the moment they arrive.
No Academic Pressure: We understand visiting a new school can be daunting, so we ensure there are no tests or homework obligations during a Shadow Day. The day is all about experiencing the supportive and enriching atmosphere of PVCS, without the pressure of academic evaluations.
A True Taste of School Life: Shadowing a current student offers prospective students a unique insider’s view of the school day. They’ll participate in real classes and interact with teachers and students, getting a genuine feel for our teaching style and community dynamics.
Grounded in Our Values: Throughout the day, prospective students will witness how our curriculum and interactions are infused with a biblical worldview, promoting values such as integrity, respect, and compassion.
How Valuable is a Shadow Day?
A Shadow Day is invaluable for both students and their families. It helps in making an informed decision about whether PVCS is the right fit for their educational and personal growth needs. Experiencing a day in the life of a PVCS student helps ease the transition for those who choose to enroll, as they already have a sense of the school’s environment, routines, and what to expect.
We’re confident that after spending a day with us, prospective students will love what PVCS has to offer and feel excited about the possibility of joining our community.
The typical order of steps from expressing interest to enrollment at our school is as follows:
School Tour: Parents may take a tour alone or bring their prospective student along to see the school and its facilities firsthand. (optional) Contact the school office to schedule a tour today!
Application Submission: After the tour, parents submit the completed application to initiate the enrollment process.
Shadow Day: Prospective students spend a day at the school, attending classes and participating in school activities to get a real sense of student life. (optional)
Assessment and Meeting with the Principal: Students undergo an assessment, and both parents and students have a meeting with the principal to discuss the student’s educational needs and fit with the school. At this time, some students may be put in the waitng pool. Being in the waiting pool means your child is fully eligible and just one step away from enrollment. Unlike a waiting list, it’s not first-come, first-served. As space opens up, we consider a number of factors—like class size balance and overall fit with our school community—before offering spots.
Enrollment: Once all steps are completed and reviewed, the student is officially enrolled and becomes part of the school community.
