Elementary Music

Some of the musical concepts that the elementary students will be learning include:

  • Music symbols & notation
  • Music reading
  • Singing &/or listening to historical, classical, & worship songs
  • Composers & music history
  • Instrument names & sounds

All of the above areas will begin to be taught as general knowledge in the lower grades and will build up to mastered concepts in the upper elementary classes.
Throughout the school year there will be opportunities for the students to participate in various musical events.

Middle School Music Enrichment

(Piano & Guitar)

Course Objectives:

Music Theory

Identify basic music notes & symbols
Describe & demonstrate use of basic music vocabulary

Piano Skills

Play given chords/progressions
Produce songs (assigned according to ability/previous knowledge)

Guitar Skills

Learn & play chords in various keys
Produce songs using various strumming techniques

Piano & Guitar Skills

Read chord charts or lead sheets & put them into use in a worship environment
Master at least five new songs per semester
